Contrary to The Economist, Coffee and Tea Are Thriving in East Africa
CLIMATEREALISM.COM -- [ISMAILI DIGEST ED: Hazar Imam, 2007: "A wise observer once said, it's not so much what we don't know that hurts us, but also all those things that we are sure we know -- but which are just not so."] ARTICLE: The Economist recently claimed climate change is harming coffee and tea production in East Africa; Kenya in particular. This is false. The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) tracks crop production and, according to their data, coffee production in East Africa has increased by 57% and tea production by 97% between 2000 and 2020, reportedly the warmest on record. What is true of East Africa, is true for most countries, regions, and the Earth as a whole. Worldwide, FAO data shows coffee production has regularly set records over the past 20 years. Rather than report these facts, The Economist chose to take anecdotal evidence from a single person or group's experience, and extrapolate it into a ...

Mark Wahlberg Says God Was Behind New Film 'Father Stu,' Speaks Out Against Culture's Lack of Grace
[H/T MOHIB EBRAHIM] -- FAITHWIRE.COM -- For devout Catholic Mark Wahlberg, "Father Stu" seems to mark the start of a new chapter in his life, one less focused on worldly success and more on leaving a legacy of faith. Wahlberg was struck by Stuart Long's story and credits God as the reason it translated so well into a movie. The film touches on a host of issues, from finding purpose in suffering and trusting God with the unknown to practicing humility and leaving space for redemption -- a neglected practice in today's culture which Wahlberg believes could benefit from more grace and forgiveness. Wahlberg said part of why cancel culture is so toxic is it causes people to "lose hope and have no faith. People are so quick to turn their backs ...

IMGUR.COM -- [ISMAILI DIGEST ED: Hazar Imam, 2017: "Let me emphasise a point about the concept of pluralism that is sometimes misunderstood. A Permanent Mouthpiece, An Editorial -- BoAI Vol #1
GOOGLE.COM -- It is customary for a new magazine to publish its policy. Let us then put down today, in a few words, our aims and objects. The great reformer poet of the Indo-Pakistan continent, the late Maulana Hali, once said: "Let the reformers remember this, if they wish to remove a blot from the cloth they are welcome to wash it, but let them not rub and rub the cloth so much that at the end they destroy the fabric itself". The policy, therefore, will be to only publish constructive suggestions and criticisms. We also invite the writers to criticize US and tell us what they like about the Ismailia Association [now ITREB] and what they do not. Next, the major part of this magazine will be devoted to the promotion of research. Another serious aspect is ...

Think of Ismaili Digest as the Front Page of all the best Ismaili websites! Ismaili Digest automatically and continuously brings together all new articles, photos, videos, etc. from Ismaili websites -- like The Ismaili, Simerg, IIS, NanoWisdoms, AKDN, Ismailimail, etc. -- so you can see them all at once. Direct links to over 15,000 web-pages from the best Ismaili websites already available. Ismaili Digest saves you (and those who are not tech savvy, such as seniors) the effort of having to visit them one by one to keep up to date, or have your inbox cluttered with emails from each of them when they publish new content. In a busy world, our sense of belonging to our community sometimes tends to wither and fade (particularly for isolated Jamati members). We hope Ismaili Digest's simplicity and comprehensiveness will help you feel connected as well as feel the local and global pulse of the community. Like many other non-commercial, public-service thematic website aggregators, Ismaili Digest is just a thematic aggregator. We publish short 50-60 word digests of all their content and provide direct links to their original pages saving you time, extra page loads and clicks. For the website publishers, direct links ensure they'll get the maximum number of potential visitors reaching their content so their hard work gets the maximum exposure. Also featured are other important articles, research and opinions relevant to the community's well being, intellectual growth, best practises and administration. And all served with a drop of humour as well, because "we are a community that welcomes the smile!" Ismaili Digest is not associated with any private Ismaili website, whether aggregated by Ismaili Digest or not. All websites Ismaili Digest aggregates are independent websites run by their individual owners and we are not responsible for content they publish. |
