IFSTUDIES.ORG -- We know from a large body of research that prayer and religious service attendance are linked to stronger marriages. One 2012 study found an association between shared prayer and greater levels of relationship trust among married couples. Other research concluded that "shared prayer is the most powerful predictor of relationship quality among black, Latino, and white couples, more powerful than denomination, religious attendance, or shared religious friendships." According to new research from the Harvard T.H. School of Public Health, the practice of prayer during childhood is linked to better physical, mental, and emotional well-being among young adults. ...
INTROVERTDEAR.COM -- "Introverts do not hate small talk because we dislike people. We hate small talk because we hate the barrier it creates between people." How? Because small talk keeps the conversation on the surface. "Polite" and "nice," it shuns vulnerability, honesty, and any chance of creating emotional intimacy leaving zero room for meaningful interaction. And this is absolute hell for introverts, whose brains are wired to dive deep. We crave peeking into another person's inner world and sharing our own. We want to dissect a big idea, figure out what makes "human beings" tick, learn something new, and yeah, talk about the meaning of life. In other words, we want the good stuff. ...
INTROVERTDEAR.COM -- First and foremost, a ringing phone is incredibly intrusive. Like an alarm clock or crying baby, it demands attention RIGHT NOW! We have to switch gears quickly, wrenching our focus away from whatever we were doing -- and when you're deep in thought, that's really irritating. Furthermore, we don't have time to mentally prepare for the conversation, which, for introverts, can be like pulling teeth. Generally speaking, we have a tendency to take our time thinking things through and responding. Those long, awkward pauses don't translate well over the phone. Non-verbal communication (aka body language) is remarkably important to ...

OZANVAROL.COM -- When I first started teaching it struck me as odd that students were required to take Criminal Procedure in their first year. I was told "We've always done it this way." In other words, decades ago, someone had made a decision and since then, no one asked, "Why this?" or "Why not that?" Our school system was designed to churn out compliant industrial workers, not inspire individuals to dream big and challenge the way things are. You can't get ahead if you're simply following. Remember: The status quo was created by people no smarter than you. What could you become if you weren't afraid of change? ...
QUILLETTE.COM -- Sunstein, a Harvard professor and alumnus of the Obama Administration, discusses the dangers of conformity and ideological groupthink in structuring a society and its various institutions. Deliberation among the likeminded creates an ideological echo chamber where moderately held beliefs become dogma. Indeed, orthodoxies form when there is no pushback. The dissenter challenges the status quo, introducing new ideas that may aid his group by improving an ailing system. The conformist is reticent, choosing to live in comfort as his group blunders. Viewpoint diversity can serve as a bulwark against institutional rot. Any organization, system, or society which does not incentivize freedom of expression and public dissent is one that is doomed to fail. ...
GOOGLE.COM -- To criticise the Prophet or to pry into his affairs or to show disapproval of his actions in words or in thoughts is abominable. It is strictly prohibited by God who through His Holy Book has enjoined on us all to submit ourselves to his will. The Holy Imams occupy a similar position. The Imam looks at things with the light of God and does what he does with the help of God. Whatever he does and in whatever age he does, he does well because he is guided by God. O the devotees of God, be careful of the position of the Imams. Never misconstrue their actions and never allow yourselves to be misled by their outward pomp which they are required to maintain to strike awe ...
